Higher Education Associations

Higher Education Associations are dedicated to ensuring that necessary changes are made to advance and improve higher education. The vast majority of these associations currently focus on distance learning education through the promotion of e-learning, mobile learning, computer-based training, and web-based training.
The following twelve organizations represent a handful of the Higher Education Associations operating today.

Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA)
The Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors works to provide accrediting agencies with a collective voice in the United States. ASPA's goal is to accurately represent its many members on a variety of topics, the most important being accurate judgment of the schools by the accrediting agencies. Beyond this, ASPA works to help individuals and schools recognize the importance of accreditation.
ASPA has over 60 member agencies and is currently the only unified voice that represents specialized and professional accreditation.
The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA)
The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) is an institution providing support and information on distance learning through support of pertinent legislation. Public committees and forums organized by USDLA generate interest and information on distance learning requirements and active legislative measures.
The American Distance Education Consortium (ACEC)
Comprised of 65 state universities and colleges, the American Distance Education Consortium is a non-profit organization that promotes flexible, accessible, and open distance learning to focus on active learning, student support, advanced technology, strong communication, and quality administration and leadership.
The Federal Government Distance Learning Association (FGDLA)
The Federal Government Distance Learning Association (FGDLA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to support and promote distance learning with regard to federal government training programs and federal agencies involved in distance learning. The Association looks to incorporate technology and communication in the learning process to better enable students to receive quality education without disrupting their busy lives. FGDLA supports Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL), satellite technology, video teleconferencing programs, and alternative media and communication technologies, as applied to distance learning.
The Arizona Distance Learning Association (AZDLA)
A chapter of the USDLA, the Arizona Distance Learning Association is an organization promoting distance learning in the state of Arizona. AZDLA actively supports technological advancements in communication and education, and the development of distance learning methods for institutions in Arizona.
Connecticut Distance Learning Association (CTDLA)
The Connecticut Distance Learning Association (CTDLA) is a member of the USDLA, providing leadership and support for distance learning solutions and advancement in communications technologies. CTDLA is a non-profit association in support of Connecticut distance learning institutions.
Florida Distance Learning Association (FDLA)
The Florida Distance Learning Association (FDLA) is a non-profit organization and member of the United States Distance Learning Association, in support of distance learning institutions in Florida. FDLA advocates advancements in communications technologies designed to facilitate distance education.
Georgia Distance Learning Association (GDLA)
The Georgia Distance Learning Association (GDLA) is a non-profit chapter of USDLA, in support of distance learning institutions in the state of Georgia. The Association is active in state legislation decisions regarding telecommunications and education.
Maryland Distance Learning Association (MDLA)
MDLA is an association in support of distance learning advancements and telecommunications technology developments to facilitate education in the state of Maryland. The MDLA works to impact legislation that affects distance learning technology and practices.
Michigan Association for Distance Learning (MADL)
The goals of MADL are to gather data on the utilization of distance learning, to act as a conduit for those seeking information, assistance or technical advice about distance learning and to represent the interest of distance learning in Michigan.
Missouri Distance Learning Association (MoDLA)
A non-profit organization for the promotion of distance learning, the Missouri Distance Learning Association strives to advance technology and communication through legislation and state support.
Oklahoma Distance Learning Association (ODLA)
Established in 1994, the Oklahoma Distance Learning Association (ODLA) supports and promotes distance learning technology and methods in the state of Oklahoma. Information meetings and conferences, ODLA seeks to impact legislation and public perception regarding the growth and refinement of distance learning.
Texas Distance Learning Association (TDLA)
Established in 1996, the Texas Distance Learning Association is a non-profit organization supporting advancements in distance learning technology, practices, and legislation. Though primarily concerned with distance learning institutions in the state of Texas, TDLA is active in national and global developments in distance learning. TDLA is a member of the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA).
